Moving Together, Thriving Together: The Science of Connection and Learning
Mar 24, 2026
We often assume that learning and growth happen alone—each person pushing their own progress. But in both nature and human experience, real change often emerges in the context of a group. When individuals move, respond, and tune in together, something remarkable happens: the group organizes itself, adjusts to challenges, and supports each member in ways that aren’t possible alone.
In studies of social animals, like mice huddling for warmth, researchers observed that individuals continuously monitor both their own state and the behavior of others. When one mouse became less active, the rest of the group automatically adjusted, maintaining coordination and balance. This kind of collective resilience—where the group supports one member without conscious direction—offers a powerful lesson about human learning dynamics.
Collective Awareness in Movement
In my group movement classes and 3-STEP connection practice, I see a similar effect in humans. When parents, caregivers, and children move together:
- Awareness spreads naturally, as participants tune into one another.
- Movements and attention become smoother and more coordinated, even without explicit instruction.
- Calm, clarity, and curiosity emerge collectively, supporting growth for both the individual and the group.
This demonstrates that brain plasticity and learning are enhanced through connection. It’s not just about doing exercises; it’s about being present, noticing, and responding to one another—creating conditions for genuine change and growth.
My Programs
To help families and professionals experience these benefits firsthand, I offer two complementary programs:
Connection in Action Cards (FREE, 3-Day Program)
- A simple, daily practice using Linda’s 3 fundamentals—I, You, and Us.
- Designed to cultivate presence, awareness, and connection in just a few minutes a day.
- Includes printable cards and wall art as gentle reminders to support your daily interactions.
- Suitable for parents, caregivers, and professionals working with children or adults with special needs.
Group Movement Classes - VIP Star Group Course (Online)
- LIVE taught, guided sessions where participants move together, fostering collective awareness, coordination, and resilience - both individually and as a group
- Suitable for parents, caregivers, and professionals working with children or adults with special needs, or anyone looking for greater vitality and overcoming challenges and limitations
- Builds on the same principles as the Connection Cards, deepening the experience through shared movement and attunement.
Both programs create conditions for growth, learning, and emotional balance, showing that when we move and connect together, we unlock potential far beyond individual effort.
Why It Matters
In a world where social isolation is increasingly recognized as a health risk, fostering collective awareness and attunement is more important than ever. My programs demonstrate that learning, healing, and growth are not just individual processes—they are relational. Parents, caregivers, professionals, AND children can thrive together, mirroring the collective dynamics observed in nature.

Supporting Research:
- Collective learning and synchronization in humans improve coordination, emotional regulation, and social cognition (Cacioppo & Cacioppo, 2018; Trends in Cognitive Sciences).
- Group-based embodied practices enhance neuroplasticity and functional outcomes in both children and adults (Kolb & Gibb, 2021; Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews).
